We have received two press releases from the ICS Greek Branch:

1- The first article concerns the 6th Annual Forum of the ICS Head Office which took place on 2nd December 2010.

2- The second article concerns the Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards where the ICS Greek Branch was awarded with the “Award for Achievement in Education and Training”


Some pictures are attached here, including a tribute being paid for the unexpected death of the general director of the ICS, Mr. David Alan Phillips


We wish to thank the Greek Branch for their input in sharing their activities with us

EDUCATION – August 6th saw the arrival of Examination Results Day and I am delighted to say that of 9 students who sat (7 in Barry, 1 in Plymouth) in April and one former South Wales student who had moved to Scotland and sat her exams in Glasgow , 5 passed in 1 or more subjects 1 of which was in Foundation Diploma , the other 4 in the PQE group and 3 candidates completed their examinations and qualified for membership of the Institute .

Despite falling numbers, not helped by the clouds of volcanic ash emanating from Iceland which grounded many flights within Europe, which in turn  prevented many of our guests from travelling to Cardiff, this year’s  annual dinner  held on 16th April was still a success both socially and financially.

At the time of writing this, mid January, snow lies on the ground, deep and crisp and far from even. A friend sent me the photo alongside. At the very least it should make our active members grateful that they were not attending to agencies in such conditions. The photo was allegedly taken in Cardiff, but I don’t think so, the surroundings are not familiar.  If  you  can identify the area we’d be delighted to hear from you. Thanks.
